The Oxford Test of English is a multi-level, general English proficiency test which assesses the ability to understand and communicate effectively in English, reporting at three CEFR levels: B2, B1, and A2.
The test covers all four skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.
The Reading and Listening modules are computer adaptive, which means that the test adjusts the difficulty of questions based on the test taker’s responses, making the test more motivating, shorter, and giving a more precise measurement than traditional proficiency tests.
The Speaking and Writing modules use task randomization, making each test an individualized experience.

What it tests
The Oxford Placement Test has two sections – Use of English and Listening.
The Use of English section assesses students’ knowledge of grammatical form and vocabulary.
The Listening section assesses students’ general listening ability.
Both sections test how well students understand the meaning of what is being communicated, which is an excellent indicator of general language ability.
British or American English
The test is available in British and American English in four different combinations: 100% British English, 100% American English or a mix. For total flexibility, you don’t have to choose the combination until you set up the test.

How it works
The Oxford Placement Test is computer adaptive, which means that the test adjusts the difficulty of questions based on the student’s responses. This makes it more motivating and ensures that it gives a more precise measurement than traditional placement tests.
Answers are automatically marked after each task, giving you an instant result once the test is complete.
Setting up a test
The Learning Management System (LMS) makes it easy to set up tests. You can:
Students will need a computer with good internet access and headphones. For more details please see the System Requirements. If there is a break in internet connection during the test, the system will stop timing the test taker and continue when they sign in again to resume the test.
Online English Level Test
Any questions you have not completed will be marked incorrect. To submit your answers, click on the button at the end of the quiz. After the quiz, you will see your score on the screen and an explanation of your approximate level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Обзор теста по английскому языку Oxford Placement Test
Когда я писал Обзор международных экзаменов на знание английского языка, для полноты картины я включил туда краткое описание самого быстрого способа получения британского сертификата, удостоверяющего уровень владения английским языком. Это сдача он-лайн Оксфордского теста Oxford Placement Test.
Когда-то этот тест распространялся на дисках с установочной дискетой (!). У меня такой был, и я его тоже сдал. Результат, к сожалению, не помню – дело было лет десять назад. И вот у меня возникло желание посмотреть самому на то, во что превратился Oxford Placement Test сегодня. С каковой целью я прошел этот тест и получил сертификат, который можно посмотреть здесь. Непонятно, как именно они считают, откуда половина балла. Максимум можно набрать 110 баллов, я набрал 103.5, то есть 94%.
Я не буду сравнивать то, что увидел, со своими практически отсутствующими воспоминаниями о сдаче Oxford Placement Test на диске. Диск, кстати, у меня есть до сих пор – вот только дискету давно некуда вставлять.
Скорее, это некое сравнение с существующими экзаменами – я буду, в основном, сравнивать с FCE, и общие впечатления от теста с целью помочь вам сориентироваться – нужен вам такой тест и сертификат, или нет.
Безусловно, по сравнению с FCE тест совершенно несерьезный, хотя бы потому, что нет Speaking и Writing. Если говорить формально, этот тест представляет собой 50% от FCE. На деле – еще меньше, поскольку отсутствует еще и Reading. Присутствуют Use of English и Listening.
На самом сложном уровне тест не показался мне сложным, хотя какие-то ошибки я сделал, как следует из сертификата. К сожалению, могу только гадать, где именно. Думаю, что в Use of English в закрытом тесте, в котором в небольшом и не очень сложном тексте нужно вставить в пропуски одно слово, я сделал одну ошибку. Я не знал, что Слово part, например, в таком предложении можно употребить как с артиклем, так и без.

В результате, a part я использовать не мог, и пришлось выходить из положения, вставив parts, чтобы избежать использования артикля. Думаю, что ошибся как раз там.
Но существенно более удивительно мне было, что я не набрал максимума в тесте по аудированию. Все было несложно, я все прекрасно слышал и понимал каждое слово. Вообще каждое. Ну, может быть, пару слов на весь тест не уловил, а может, и нет. Сложности были, скорее, логического характера – например, подходят два близких ответа, и нужно определить, какой все-таки ближе.
Еще было довольно редко встречающееся задание такого типа. Вы слышите диалог двух людей, и видите 4 утверждения о том, что они обсуждают. Вам надо выбрать одно утверждение, с которым согласны оба человека. Если быть внимательным и все понимать, никаких сложностей не возникает.
В общем, мне неудивительно, что я ошибся где-то в Use of English – какой-то процент ошибок практически неизбежен. Когда я вижу сертификаты некоторых преподавателей со стопроцентными результатами в серьезных тестах, меня начинают терзать смутные сомнения.
Мне также неудивительно, что я где-то ошибся в аудировании. Но вот то, что результат по аудированию у меня ниже, чем в Use of English, вызывает у меня нескрываемое изумление. Должно было бы быть наоборот.
Однако бог с ним, пусть к стопроцентным результатам стремятся те же, кто пьет шампанское по утрам. (Намек на Бриллиантовую руку Леонида Гайдая с Юрием Никулиным в главной роли). Я подтвердил максимальный уровень С2 по европейской классификации CEFR за 66% отведенного на тест времени – вполне нормальный результат для преподавателя английского языка.
Выводы, которые я могу сделать в результате.
1 Лучше всего этот тест выполняет именно заявленную на сайте Оксфорда роль – быстрая оценка текущего уровня. Его хорошо использовать в процессе обучения, чтобы видеть свой прогресс.
2 Сильные студенты получать от прохождения теста легкое разочарование – он не очень интересный. Если сравнивать с FCE и ЕГЭ, по скучности он явно ближе к ЕГЭ.
4 Но – дешево и быстро. Тест стоит 3 фунта (на данный момент – 180 рублей) и через два рабочих дня после оплаты его уже можно сдавать. Сдавать можно в течение 30 дней. Сертификат готов через два рабочих дня после сдачи. Если сдать сразу, то вы получаете минимальный срок, за который можно получить этот сертификат – 2+2=4 рабочих дня с момента оплаты.
В заключение можно еще раз констатировать, что идеального теста на знание английского языка не существует. Однако ближе всего к идеалу кажутся полноценные экзамены формата FCE-CPE.

Несколько дней назад я прошла тестирование на сайте testizer.ru и хотела бы поделиться впечатлениями. Я занимаюсь преподаванием английского языка, а также работаю в сфере международных отношений.
Каждый день я использую свои знания и навыки, но порой их необходимо не только демонстрировать, но и официально подтверждать. Обычно, процесс прохождения тестирования и получение сертификата занимает продолжительное время и требует больших временных и финансовых затрат.

Выражаю огромную благодарность сайту TESTIZER за результативную помощь в решении моей проблемы. Я преподаю иностранные языки, моя специализация — немецкий и французский языки.
