Just don’t change the default font to something like Wingdings, lest you render your system completely unreadable.

Hi there BalaK3, I will be your Independent Advisor for today, I hope we can both resolve your problem.

Thanks Sir, your suggestion is good. I carried out, it only increase the size of the Font. (default)

But the font itself is a very thin type (very light in appearance and it looks as if blurred). So it is not easily readable.

What I want is to have a Font which is BLACK OR SLIGHTLY BOLD.

Kindly let me know how to change the font to become THICK / bold

or choose another type of font say Ariel, Verdana, etc.

To change the Font itself you will have to modify the Registry which I will not recommend as it may post irreversible damage to your PC.
There is no Windows Settings to change the Font to Arial, Verdana.. etc..
You will have to add a Registry key to do that.
If you really need to change it you may perform it at your own risk.
I would advise creating a system restore point so you can revert back in case of any error that may happen after.
This actually worked on mine as I tried it personally but i notice that my clock changed instead of colon it has a square separating the digits of hour and minutes.
Here is how to create a restore point

And here is how to change your default Font. Please click on this link.

Thanks a lot. I don’t feel to take too much risk as the system may create may problems some time.

1. Is ONLY ONE default font of Segoe UI fixed by windows 10? Is there no other chance to select from Segoe UI font for the default font? (say black/bold etc from Segoe UI ).

2. After windows 10 recent auto- update only this problem of blurred font is encountered. Can any small correction/modification in the Registry possible?

2. Earlier TAHOMA font was the default one in Windows XP.

I managed to change the font from the wriggly font which was so difficult to read.

At Windows, Font, I went through all the fonts to compare with the font used by explorer.

It was the Quiet Infinity, and after deleting this font, it is now back to Arial font.

Funny—I did not click «helpful». I clicked «reply».

Had I known I would NOT be given a selection of fonts, I would have stayed with Windows 7.

Actually, Windows made a huge mistake twenty years ago, because Windows 95 had the most wonderful selection of fonts one could ever imagine. And now, to leave your customers stuck, having to look at this ordinary, blah, boring whatever it was you selected is absurd. You first removed Kristen, but I still had Comic Sans.

And you do a TERRIBLY confusing thing by showing us a FONTS page, including Comic Sans, we click it but it involves something I am not able to figure out, since I’m self-taught. I know a bit more than clicking a mouse, but who is responsible for taking away our choice of fonts and WHY?

So while I can have my computer read the screen to me if I am completely blind. But if I am a typical middle aged American I can not set the font to something I can see?

Can’t set a system default font.

Every collection of tasks In the Control Panel has two different control panels to access it.

A browser that took away the title bar, so that if you have more than a couple of tabs open leaves little to no where to grab the window move it.

A messaging notification system more design for push advertising than useful information.

Fewer and fewer status results of any sort, you will just have to trust that Windows has been ONLY doing good things for the 45 minutes.

Updates you can’t stop from being updated. So you can not have a known test system for compatibility testing or troubleshooting, because you have no way of knowing when and what updates have been applied. Shouldn’t be a problem since MS has NEVER released an update that did more damage than good.

Though with more and more of the overbloated widgets that suck bandwidth, CPU, and distract users does make it easier and easier for me to convince business clients of the risks and costs associated with the Windows operating systems.

How to change the default font in Windows 10

Are you looking to change the default font in your Windows 10 but seem to be stuck at how you can actually do it? That’s okay. We know how that feels. But we’ve also got a way out for you! Windows 10 has definitely made life easier by enhancing user experience but while doing this it has also limited the customizability of the OS. Where in earlier versions of Windows 10, you could change the default font using the Control Panel or Personalization settings, now you have to do it manually through the Windows registry. You can indeed use your favorite font in OS features like message boxes icons, title bars, etc. instead of using the default font Segoe UI, with a simple trick! Follow the guide to modify the registry to change the system font and spice up your dull and average-looking interface.

Steps to change the default font in Windows 10

So before you jump in and learn the art of spicing things up for your PC, just be cautious about messing things up when you’re modifying the registry. We suggest you create a system restore point that you can revert back to in case something goes wrong. Once you’ve done that, get started by following the steps below:

Step 1: Launch the Control Panel from the Start Menu.

Step 2: Click on the “Appearance and Personalization” option from the side menu.

Step 3: Click on “Fonts” to open fonts and select the name of the one you want to use as default.

Step 4: Now open the Notepad application and paste the following code into the empty text file:

Step 5: Be sure to replace the font name you want to change Segoe UI within the last line of the registry code

Step 7: From wherever your file is saved, double-click on it to merge it with the registry by clicking Yes and OK

Step 8: Simply restart your computer to let the changes take effect

Wrapping it up

That was pretty simple, wasn’t it? Even though the chances were slim, if you faced any issues while making changes in the font registry in Windows 10, you can revert back to the system restore point you created in the start. But if you were able to successfully change the default font you’ll now be loving the new look your system just got. We really hope you were able to make the most out of this article. Let us know how it went for you in the comment box.
