How do I hide taskbar windows 10 without auto-hide
On windows XP and Vista there was a function on the taskbar which I loved a lot and disappeared on the next versions. It was the «hide task bar» NOT «auto-hide». The great advantage of it, was that the taskbar only appeared when I pressed the Windows key. With the auto-hide it is completely annoying that every time I’ll go down to press on something on the software that I am using, the REALLY annoying Auto-hide pops-up, in front of the buttons that I want to press! Then I spent a battle of seconds waiting that taskbar disappears, then try again to press that button and again the taskbar appears! Sometimes this drives me crazy!
I moved the task to the sides and currently I have on the top, even so all this options have buttons that I need and not the ### taskbar!
Why Microsoft removed this simple and great option that they had before?

Is there any other option than completely open the doors of my computer to Microsoft just to give a feedback saying «Please return back the function on XP and Vista of Hide the task bar»?!
I believe that should be some other way, no?

This drives me nuts too. I try to maximize my screen for Pokerstars to accommodate the maximum number of open poker tables, and every time a table prompts me for my action, the taskbar drops down. and this happens constantly every few seconds! Why do they not have a simple feature such as ‘lock hide mode’. They currently have ‘lock’ taskbar mode to prevent the taskbar from being moved or adjusted accidentally with the mouse, so why do they not have a ‘lock’ mode for when it’s hidden? Is this 2016 or 1983? There is not excuse for this feature to be missing in such advanced times that we live in now.
I will be reporting this to microsoft in the proper suggestion box and any other place it will be read. If you report the same thing, and we get others to report this, they will surely take this more seriously and fix this problem and update our computers one day, hopefully soon!!

Restart The Windows Explorer Process
When you find the Windows 10 taskbar isn’t hiding automatically, the first thing to do is to restart the Windows Explorer process. This way the Explorer will be refreshed and will bring the changes you made to effect.
There are two ways to restart the Windows Explorer process on your PC.
Use Command Prompt To Restart Windows Explorer
If you prefer to use commands to get things done on your computer, there’s a command to help you restart the Explorer from the Command Prompt.

Use Task Manager To Restart Windows Explorer
Task Manager lets you find running apps and processes on your computer and gives you the option to kill them. You can use it to directly restart the processes as well and that’s what you need to do with the Windows Explorer process.
Turn Off Notifications For The Culprit Apps In Taskbar
Another reason the taskbar doesn’t hide the taskbar automatically on your Windows 10 PC is that there’s an app keeping it running. When an app sitting in the taskbar receives a notification, it tries to get your attention by bringing back the taskbar on your screen.
If you don’t find the notifications from the apps in the taskbar to be of any importance, you can turn off the notifications for those apps.
Remove Problematic Apps From The Taskbar
The other way to ensure your Windows 10 taskbar hides automatically is to remove the problematic apps from it. Windows gives you an option to choose what apps you want in the taskbar on your computer.
This procedure basically makes the taskbar non-existent as it removes most, if not all, apps and icons from the taskbar area.

The Windows 10 taskbar is a pretty useful tool, but it’s also one you might not want to see on your screen all the time. Whatever the reason, you can make it come and go as you please in Windows 10 with a few simple steps.
This works for both desktop PCs and tablets, and the method is exactly the same.
How to auto-hide Windows 10’s taskbar
Just follow these simple steps:
Click taskbar settings.
Toggle Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode to on. (You can also do the same for tablet mode.)
The taskbar will now disappear unless you move the mouse to the appropriate area of the screen, when it’ll magically just pop back up before your very eyes. On a tablet, you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen at any time to make the taskbar re-appear.
There are a few other taskbar related goodies in here you can experiment with too, such as moving its position on the screen or making the icons much smaller. Many will be happy with the default look, but there are some good options here to customize it to your own tastes.

It’s been possible to automatically hide the taskbar in Windows operating system since the time of Windows XP, but many users who recently started using computers or Windows operating system are not aware of this nifty feature offered in Windows.
What’s is taskbar auto-hide?
As the name of the feature suggests, Windows 10 allows you to automatically hide the taskbar when it’s inactive. That is, when the auto-hide taskbar feature is enabled, the taskbar is hidden most of the time and re-appears when the mouse cursor is moved to the bottom edge of the screen (or to the side of the screen where the taskbar is currently positioned). And once you move the mouse cursor away from the taskbar, the taskbar hides again automatically.
How useful is the taskbar auto-hide feature in Windows 10?
The feature comes in handy when you’re working on a notebook or tablet with a relatively small screen. By hiding the taskbar, you get more screen real estate, which in turn helps you get your work done faster.
The feature also comes in handy when you want to focus on something for a long time without distractions. For instance, if you’re compiling a report in Office Word, you can auto-hide the taskbar and maximize the Word window for the distraction-free writing experience.
Besides that, desktop and notebook users who always use Alt + Tab to switch between running programs rarely use the taskbar. And as you know, the Start menu can be revealed by pressing the Windows logo key on the keyboard.
How to auto-hide the taskbar in Windows 10?
Complete the given below directions to enable or disable the auto-hide taskbar feature in Windows 10.
Step 1: Right-click on an empty spot on the taskbar, click Taskbar settings option to open Taskbar settings page of the Settings app.
Step 2: Here, turn on Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode option to hide the Taskbar immediately. If you want to hide the taskbar only in the tablet mode, please turn on Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode option. That’s it!
Windows will automatically hide the taskbar when it’s not being used.
To completely or always hide the taskbar
In order to completely hide the taskbar, we need to go for third-party tools. While there are many tools around, Taskbar Hider is one of the better tools out there for this job.
Taskbar Hider allows you to assign a keyboard shortcut to hide or show the taskbar so that you can hide or unhide the taskbar in a second.
While configuring it, make sure to check the option labeled Load at Windows Startup.
3 ways to hide the taskbar in Windows 10
If you use a laptop, tablet, or even a desktop computer with a small or medium-sized monitor, you know that screen space is essential. Unfortunately, on displays with modest sizes or low resolutions, that space is quite limited. One of the best ways to get more screen space is to make Windows 10 auto-hide the taskbar when you’re not using it. In this article, we are showing you how to hide the taskbar in Windows 10 using the built-in controls from the Settings app. We also have a tool that we created for the same reason, which you can use when the taskbar doesn’t hide even though you’ve made the required settings in Windows 10. Let’s get started:
NOTE: To create this tutorial, we used Windows 10 with November Update. The first and last methods we’re showing you in this article work for hiding the taskbar both when you’re using Windows 10 in desktop mode and tablet mode. The second method applies only to Windows 10 in tablet mode.
1. How to auto-hide the taskbar on Windows 10, using the Settings app
The first step in making your taskbar auto-hide in Windows 10 is to right-click (or tap and hold) on an empty space on your taskbar, where no icons are shown, and no apps are pinned. On the contextual menu that shows up, select Taskbar Settings.
On the Taskbar page, look for the settings called “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode” and “Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode.” By default, they’re both off, meaning that the taskbar is always shown on your screen, both in desktop and tablet mode.
If you want to auto-hide the taskbar in desktop mode, when not in use, enable the “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode” switch.
If you want to auto-hide the taskbar in tablet mode, when not in use, enable the “Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode” switch.
If you want to hide the taskbar always, regardless of whether you’re using your Windows 10 computer or device in desktop mode or tablet mode, enable both switches.
2. How to quickly auto-hide the taskbar on Windows 10 in tablet mode
If you’re using Windows 10 in tablet mode, there’s an even faster way of hiding the taskbar. Tap and hold (or right-click) on an empty space on the taskbar, and then tap (click) on “Automatically hide the taskbar.”
3. How to auto-hide the taskbar on Windows 10 using our TaskbarHide app
Another easy way to make the taskbar hide in Windows 10 is to use a tool that we created for you, called TaskbarHide. Download TaskbarHide using this link or the one at the end of this section. Save it somewhere on your Windows 10 PC, and then double-click or double-tap on it.
When you launch TaskbarHide, the SmartScreen filter warns you that it comes from an untrusted publisher. You get this notification because there aren’t that many people downloading and using it. Trust us that it is safe and doesn’t harm your computer. It is only a PowerShell script saved as an executable file with a simple graphical user interface.
To be able to use this tool, click or tap on “More info” and then choose to “Run anyway.”
When it opens, you should see a small window like the one below. To make the taskbar hide on your Windows 10 PC, click or tap on “Auto-Hide Taskbar.” Note that this auto-hides the taskbar both in desktop mode and tablet mode.
Once the setting is applied, you get to see a message informing you that “Taskbar is now set to Auto-Hide.”
To set the taskbar to always be visible on your screen, click or tap on “Always Show Taskbar.” After the setting is applied, you are shown the message that “Taskbar has been set to Always Show.” This setting makes the taskbar visible both in desktop mode and tablet mode.
NOTE: When you use TaskbarHide to set your taskbar to auto-hide or show, the app briefly closes and restarts the explorer process. That’s necessary for the settings to be applied; otherwise, you would have had to restart your PC.
