You can run it yourself to be sure.
If it finds unfixable problems then run bootable diagnostics long test from Seatools created here: http://blog.nowherelan.com/2013/04/04/boot-seat.
There are also diagnostics built into HP and Dell by powering up while pressing the ESC and F12 keys respectively.

Are you getting the Repairing drive. This might take more than 1 hour startup error? You are not alone and we have got the solutions for this startup problem.
If you experience this problem, the basic workaround would be to wait for more than one hour for the boot process to complete. However, waiting won’t clear off this problem. Hence, the Windows Report team has compiled a list of solutions to fix this problem.
Fix: Repairing drive takes forever
Solution 1: Run CHKDSK
One of the fixes that worked for those who encountered this startup problem, was to run chkdsk. Here’s how to do this:
If you are still experiencing the error, you might want to proceed to the next solution.
Solution 2: Repair PC registry
Sometimes, the Windows Registry might be bloated or corrupted; hence, you need to repair the registry. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s System File Checker verifies the integrity of all system files and repairs files with problems when possible.

This issue normally occurs when there is a faulty hard drive (or bad sectors), we need to try and repair the drive.
To troubleshoot the issue, we can run Check Disk using the Command Prompt at Advance startup options in the Recovery environment.
To achieve, we need to have the Windows 8 installation disc or a repair disc. You can use a working computer to create a media. Refer to the article to create a media:
Note: You will require the product key to create a media.
If you don’t have the product key or if it’s an OEM laptop (Windows 8 preinstalled), I would suggest you to contact the Asus support and check if they can provide a Windows recovery disc.
Follow the methods suggested below:
Method 1:
Follow the steps to proceed further (using a Windows installation media or a recovery disc):
Note: Before you proceed further, make sure that the boot priority is set to DVD drive (or a USB media depending on the drive that you may have created) under BIOS. Disclaimer: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
Follow the steps. Insert the Windows 8.1 installation DVD in the DVD ROM and restart your laptop.
“chkdsk /F /R”
Important: Data available on bad sectors might be lost when chkdsk tries to repair your hard disc.
Check if you are able to boot the laptop normally. If not, check with the next method.
